Investigating the Paranormal

Evening in Norwich

Date of Investigation –  8th March 2008

Investigators – Duggie, Tracey, Benny, Gavin, Vikki, Clive

We started the investigation at Norwich Cathedral. Upon stopping at the front gates and calling out, there seemed to be no feelings felt by any of us!! After admiring the view of the structure in front of us, Tracey and Clive both picked up on the feeling of lots of people moving around us, like a busy little market over to our right, so we headed off in that direction. In this area the batteries on the camcorder went dead and after replacing them we went on a little further. Tracey got the feeling that she had to stop, and old lady in spirit came through to her who was in her 70’s.  The old lady’s left knee joint was very badly dislocated, she said that the pain was excruciating and from this point on, her life was over, as it took so long to heal.  We moved on, taking this experience as a polite warning to be careful as we walk towards Ferry Lane.   Gavin got the feeling here that a male was stabbed in his left hand side and the attacker would have come from behind him. It was felt that the victim did not die on the spot but carried on towards his destination. We moved back towards the old entrance of the cathedral, and it is here that Tracey picked up on a strange old man with a funny arm. Jason said that he had the feeling of sciatica on the left hand side of his body and Tracey agreed that she was also getting the same feeling. Jason walked out of the area, only to have the feeling disappear and upon returning the feeling came back. Tracey said that the old man that she was picking up on was hunched over and was also unshaven as if he was not looking after himself. We all took it in turns to go over to the old gates of the cathedral to look inside; at first the feeling was of unease/panic and was very uninviting!!! After calling out for a noise to be made, a slapping noise was heard and only a few seconds later a man walked out from an alley just to the side of the gates. Therefore to our disappointment we cannot say if it came from inside or out. Tracey also picked up on a girl screaming in this area. Vikki said that when she looked into the entrance it was very dark and hard to make out what she could see, although to everybody’s amazement as we all thought it was surprisingly light inside! Vikki also had the feeling that a male was killed in the doorway by another male. Duggie felt that it was a bad feeling that had drawn him towards the doorway in the first place.

We now moved on around the side of this amazing building towards the grave yard. At this point Duggie pointed out a west facing grave and asked if anybody was picking up on if it was male or female. Vikki picked up that the lady in question had been shot, upon checking the head stone it stated that she was sentenced to death by gun shot for patriotism on October 12 1915. From here we move around to the Adam and Eve public house and much to Gavin’s disappointment there is no time to stop for a drink! We took in the views and moved on towards the city centre by the river. When we reached Fyers Bridge Gavin picked up on the body of a lady in a white dress being bound and thrown into the river from the top of the bridge. When we made it to the top of the bridge Duggie checked the area with the EMF Meter and it went crazy! He walked from one side of the bridge to the other several times, but it would go on and off at random points.  We agreed that it could be the lights under the bridge causing it, only to have the EMF Meter stop beeping in the area it was before, and then starting up in a different place. We were all left a little confused on this one……

We move on to Elm Hill, again the EMF Meter went off, mainly at the old doorway to an old monastery.  We checked around for electric boxes and drain covers that could be causing this.  It was at this point the Digital voice recorder stopped working even though the batteries are charged. We decided to use the rest of the evening to take in a few well known sights, Norwich Castle and also the church that was used to throw the bodies of anybody who was caught stealing from victims of the plague. In the grounds of this was also the plague pit, the pit for the bodies of the plague victims and those tossed from the top of the church. Opposite this is where, as the story goes: Where a building that the bailiffs had boarded up after its occupants died of the plague, upon removing the boards to retrieve the bodies of the deceased after the controlled amount of time, another body was found inside. It was that of a little girl, (who unbeknownst to the bailiffs when they were boarding it up, was inside and still alive and well). Her body was found beside her parents, whose legs had bite marks on and pieces of flesh missing.  It turned out that the little girl tried to eat the flesh to stay alive, but got a piece lodged in her throat and she died. We all then headed back to the car park for debriefing after another successful investigation.  Thanks Team for another great investigation.
