Weather: Fine/Cool/Dark
Time: 9pm
Group 1 – Tracey, Vikki, Jason & Jayne (Guest)
Group 2 – Gavin, Benny, Clive, George & Nathan (Guest)
Duggie
& Mel (Guest) were moving between both teams throughout the evening.
We all met at Benny’s house and
walked to the starting point of the investigation, here the teams separated with
Group 1 staying at the starting point on the map and Group 2 continuing.
Group 1
We began our investigation by
walking slowly up the road towards the entrance of the wood, we had only just
got past the starting point and Vikki was picking up on buildings to the right
of the road in the field, slightly behind us.
These buildings were described as round with straw looking roofs, with
the smoke coming from the centre of the roof.
Jayne was getting a warm feeling
on her left hand side. Vikki was picking
up on the feeling of fish, lots of baskets of fish, on the Nunnery side of the
road and the feeling of water.
At this point Jayne said she was
picking up on a lady, and the feeling that this lady was wet, that she had fell
into the water or been pushed under the water.
The age of the lady was thought to be around the early 30’s, with long
mousy brown hair with a curl in it.
Vikki then said she was getting
the word Witchcraft, but if was felt this was un-connected with the lady.
Jason was looking to the right
hand side of the road at the field and said he felt there had been a battle. Jayne was feeling tingly when Jason spoke
about the battle.
Vikki felt that a girl walked
the road, like in a replay over and over again.
Vikki was shown the girl running down the road, away from a large house,
she was very frightened and was screaming. She was in her 20’s, her dress was
dirty and her hair was matted. Nothing
was felt to be chasing her but that she was trying to escape and was scared of
being caught. She felt that no one would
believe her if she had told them but she was being held against her will. The man of the house was felt to be
influential person of authority.
As we walked along the road we
came to a tree on the left hand side, both Vikki, Jayne & Jason all felt
sick, this feeling wore off and we continued.
At the building where the
Nunnery remains stand Vikki was feeling that they had prepared for a very
important visitor from
London
arriving, the smell of pigs could be smelt.
Just before we got to the
entrance of the wood, Vikki said she felt like she had just walked through
someone’s house. It was felt by all that
the area seemed very busy, like there were things going on from different times
and a lot had gone on.
Group 2 started by headed up to
the woods via the road. Gavin picked up on a woman with long dark hair, a white
face and muddy looking, walking with us, but stopping at the road. The feeling
of a group of 3-4 people watching us from the ridge made us all feel a little
uneasy, Clive’s camera turned itself off and then back on again. Duggie asked
if anyone could feel anything and the temperature dropped. As we walked further
up Gavin got an uneasy feeling that something laid up ahead!!! We came to a
fork in the path and took it, which led to a very large tree. George saw a
figure walking around and Duggie said that there were about eight spirits now
circling us. We all felt that a heavy pressure. Upon arriving at the tree we
felt a very positive, safe energy. Duggie called out for the spirit to show
themselves as he could see the figures of some men walking around us and got
the feeling that something was waiting to walk out in front of us. Gavin called
out for them to do something however there was no reply. We decided to head
back down the path and take the other turning. On the way down we got the
feeling that something was moving in close to us and then moved away. When we got
to the turning Gavin said he had the feeling that something was nasty there and
that he did not like it! Melissa also felt panicky. We came across a large
rock, which when we touched it, it made us feel surrounded. We felt that this
area felt warmer than the rest of the woods. Duggie called out again and Gavin
felt the presence of a male. Benny asked if anyone could get an era and Duggie was
given the date 1802. Gavin sensed a hooded figure, dressed like a monk, but felt
it was not a monk. He was also holding a
dagger/knife pointing down and given the initial B. Duggie was given the name
Sir John Deamus and also told “they will pay for it”. Duggie called out again,
but the feeling of panic came over, the other group called on the walky-talky
and asked us to head back because they have heard a strange noise, so we headed
back and met up (9.55pm).
When both groups met up we
walked into the wood. Benny and Gavin decided to head up the road on their own
to investigate a strange noise that the other group had heard. Gavin picked up
on the feeling of a woman who was sobbing, the feeling that she would sit with
her face in her hands but could also come screaming at you like a banshee. She had dark hair, pale white face, white
night gown with lacy hem, but she all was muddy like the body had been dragged
from the sea. They then joined back with the other group in the woods.
The rest of the group headed into the woods
and Jayne was still hearing the woman screaming. It was felt the house would
have been located further up the road towards Lyng Eastaugh. The information was given that the house had
been on fire and that the butler had started it, the woman giving this
information now was from the 1800’s and wore a blue/grey work dress with a
pinafore over the top. Jayne got the
feeling of heat on her face, as if sunlight was beaming down on her, the laser
thermometer stated that she was about 6-7 deg c hotter than everyone else.
Vikki became worried that something was getting closer to us, like a group of
people were ganging up on us from the ridge, although there were to many to
count. Vikki felt like they were all in
a group, but everything seemed to be grey and jumbled, like it was not all from
one time. Duggie called out and on doing
so, Gavin said that he got the words “you’re next”, and then the temperature
dropped. George got a pain in his stomach and Duggie continued to call out. Gavin
got the feeling that somebody was running through the path, like as if you had
just done a knock and run on somebody’s door; the feeling of excitement and
panic all in one. We decided to move back down the path towards the entrance,
Duggie called out again, but this time there was no response. The lady’s within
the group seemed to get allsorts happen to them on the way down the path; Jayne
got a sharp stabbing feeling, and Melissa felt that she couldn’t have her back
to the edge of the path. Gavin’s torch went out and would not work again. Vikki
was given the saying “the women must feel what the men felt!” George’s compass
kept moving all over the place and would not find north. As we walked along the
wood path, Vikki was getting a buzzing in her ear, at the same time a male
energy was being noticed, but the feeling of protection from him being given. A temperature was taken of Vikki at this point
the reading was: -26 a few minutes later her temp was up to 9.
Walking up the path and to the
stone on the right hand side of the path, Vikki was feeling very uncomfortable,
she felt that there were lots of people behind us gathering. The feeling from other investigators was that
everything was jumbled and not from the same time. The name Rufus or Robert was being given Jayne. Benny was experiencing a pain in his left
arm.
As we reached the far end of the
wood, George had the feeling as a woman would feel when a baby was lost to her,
he described it as very painful.
We walked back retracing our
steps past the stone now on our left hand side and continued back down the path
into the wood again, we stopped short of where the path diverts off to the
large tree. Tracey and Vikki both felt uncomfortable and would only stand one
way, feeling that a male energy in army clothing was very close to us. It was felt that the male person was not
aware that they had died. Some of the
investigators started to experience stabbing pains in their stomach, and a
sharp pain in their lower back. The male
was saying “The woman have to feel like the men felt”.
Group 1 now split from Group 2 and
Duggie and Melissa both joined group1.
Group 1 continued to the large tree.
Here we felt very safe and protected, it felt like there was a force
field around the tree and nothing could get close to us. A lot of investigators
said how tired they felt here. We walked
back along the path back to the main track but realised we must be off of the
path, as ahead there was a huge log, both Tracey and Duggie saw the log in the
way. We walked to the right but realised
on walking forward that the path had in fact been where we had been walking
previously, on shining the torch, there was no log there now?!
We now continued along the path
back to the wood entrance, but the feeling of being watched and people walking
along the top of the wood hedge line with us was strong.
Group two decided to go back to
the road where we felt the spirit of the lady, whilst we were doing this. At
which point Benny got the smell of lavender perfume. The air got a lot colder.
George saw the glimpse of a woman in the corner of his eye, but when he looked
at her she disappeared. Gavin called out for her to show herself and then Clive
started to feel a buzzing in his head. George also got the feeling of deja-vu.
We all then met up and closed
the investigation.
Lyng:
The chalice in the river
A river channel was said to run from the
river Wensum to and under St. Edmund's Chapel (TG079173) at Lyng Estaugh. Once,
two watermen found a silver chalice in the channel and quarreled over who would
keep it. The argument grew more bitter till one swore at the other, and at
that, the chalice leapt into the air, fell into the water, and was never seen
again.

The
Great Stone of Lyng
Phantom nuns are said
to cross the road at Lyng Estaugh from 'the old nunnery' (probably the ruins of
a chapel dedicated to St. Edmund at TG079173) to the 'Druid Stone' in a grove.1Some call this "...the Great Stone of Lyng..."2

Balor's Pit
A ghostly coach and four are said to haunt
'Balors Pit' at the top of Caddor's Hill (TG069173 area). By tradition, the
coach was going down the old road when something frightened the horses and they
went into the pit, drowning all inside.
