InvestigatorsPresent: Duggie, Jayne, Lucy, Simon, Neil & Des
Time ofInvestigation: 8.30pm
We started by taking the temperature in the car park which was 15.5C. Once we arrived in the woods we took the temperature again, which at this point was 14.5C. Simon felt a lot of pressure and his head was throbbing. Jayne saw the trees getting dark and felt like someone was pulling her down the path. We continued down the path and half way down,at the cross roads, we had a feeling that there were a lot of spirits around us. We continued walking but stopped because Lucy felt that there was someone beside us in the tree line. At that point Jayne saw a few spirits in front of us. We carried on and Jayne, Neil and Simon smelt a flowery perfume. We then took the path to the right where Duggie and Jayne felt like they had cobwebs on their faces. Jayne felt a ‘whirly’ feeling and spinning. Jayne and Duggie turned and faced Lucy, who then felt like she had locked up all her feelings and that she couldn’t feel anything. When we walked up the path a little further, Duggie could see a knight on a horse. One minute he was in front of the group and then he appeared behind us. Duggie described him as looking and feeling very evil and he felt that he wished to do us harm. He wore black armour with a white phoenix on his crest. All of the group members felt like we should move on along the path.
Des could sense and hear someone walking behind him as he was at the
back of the group. We all stopped and the EMF went off. Then at the
same time Lucy and Jayne both put their hands up to their necks as they felt
someone tickle them! It was a friendly gentle tickle. Then as we moved
on Jayne felt someone holding her arm, gently like you'd walk with a partner
or maybe a parent and they walked alongside her for a while. It was a
male spirit but apart from that he didn't communicate and left very
quickly. His presence felt very happy and comforting.
We walked a bit further when Jayne could sense a man walking with his horse through the woods. He told her that he did not have a home and was a traveller who still travels and lives on the road. He warned us about the black evil knight who was around when he lived in the forest. He gave the date 1706 as the year he died. He said that he would stay with the group until the knight left us.
We moved on until we came to another cross roads. We decided not to turn left as none of us had a good feeling about it so we carried along the path going forward. The temperature was taken and a reading of 14.8C was given. At this point the EMFmeter also went off. We walked on and Jayne told us that the man leading the horse had then left us. The EMF meter also went off as she turned to say this. All the members felt that there was a lot of spirit activity present around us. We came to a turning on the right, but felt like we should again carry straight on. Neil felt like there were 5 or 6 monks walking along the path, with their heads down and not looking up.
We got to the corner of the woods where the temperature reading was 16.1C. We followed the path all the way back to the car park with nothing else to report. At this stage we decided to take a short break.
After a short break we walked back up the path the same way in which we walked before. The EMF meter went off this time, but hadn’t before. The temperature was now 14.2C. Lucy felt like someone was stopping her from feeling anything again. Simon and Jayne were standing next to Lucy when she felt light headed, like she was going to fall over. As quick as this feeling came, it also went. Lucy and Des both heard a lady say hello. Duggie could hear talking behind him, and Lucy asked if anyone was there but got no response. All the members felt like there was darkness all around us. Duggie could smell salt and vinegar flavoured crisps on the path for a few seconds then it was gone. The temperature was getting colder, it was10.3C. We followed the path around to the left and walked for around 30 minutes, picking up on nothing and all with a calm feeling. Neil felt someone touch him on the shoulder but he was unsure who it was. A few seconds later he sensed a man who had shot himself with a shotgun in the woods. He had done this because his partner had had an affair with another man, and left him which was too much for him to handle. He had taken his life below the tree where Neil was standing. Neil felt like it wasn’t that long ago, maybe the 1920’s. Jayne was feeling a young male present, but was unsure if it was the same person.
We walked some more and again the members could smell the flowery perfume. The temperature had risen again to 16.9C. Jayne had a pain in her lower back at this point which went very quickly. We followed the path around to the left and Simon sensed a young girl walking with us who wished to see what we were doing there. She asked Simon if he could play some games with her. Simon explained that she was dressed in old fashioned clothes, maybe from the 1800’s. We followed the path to the end and realised that it came to the cross roads where we had begun. So we decided to go back along the path and carried on in the other direction where we hadn’t been. We came to where we had seen the small girl and the EMF meter went off this time. The temperature had also dropped down to 10.2C. As we continued to walk the girl all of asudden turned left us. As we walked along, Simon and Jayne were at the back of the group and they both felt like something was coming up behind us very quickly. Jayne recognised that it was the black knight from earlier, but this time he was not alone there were lots of spirits with him. Simon and Neil could see some blue orbs close to us. Neil also saw some red orbs behindand by Jayne’s side. Jayne told the restof the group abruptly to move faster and quicker. Jayne said that the spirits were closing in all around us and there seem to be more of them gathering. They made us feel unsafe and they wanted us all to leave the woods as we were no longer welcome. Again Jayne told the group to move quickly and that we must all leave the woods now. Simon and Jayne could both hear and feel heavy breathing like a horse onthe back of their heads/necks. They were very close to the back of Jayne. She asked her guide for help to push them back and they seemed to move back slightly. We then ventured out of the woods and arrived at the road near the car park. It was as if someone had pushed us out in the right direction to leave. It was felt like as soon as we arrived at the road the intense and evil feeling went away.
We decided to leave the woods and not return, ending our investigation
History
Bradfield Woods are some of the most ancient woodland in
Britain. It has existed since at least Saxon times andhas been managed as coppice woodland since 1252. It has also been known as Felsham HallWood. The planted areas will have changed over the centuries and where there are now trees there may have been paths.
It is not far from Woolpit, where themysterious GreenChildren were found. Some stories link the children to Bradfield Woods.
The woods are only 9 miles from Lavenham, where a horse fair was held for centuries. It was a very important event for gypsies who would come from far and wide. Could this be the destination of our traveller?
There were many priories in
Suffolk, with Benedictine or Black Monks,Austin Canons and Franciscan friars being found very close to the woods.
